The Problem
Hiring top talent is essential for an organization’s success, and a structured onboarding process can significantly enhance the integration of new hires into their roles and the company, positively impacting retention rates. In certain industries, failing to engage candidates during the “Yes to Desk” period and not setting expectations for their first 30, 60, and 90 days can increase the risk of candidates accepting other job offers before their start date.
The Solution
Recognizing the absence of a strong, engaging onboarding process for all new employees, this program was designed in partnership with the Director of HR as an effective way to welcome new staff and expedite their transition from accepting an offer to achieving peak job performance. It provides the essential knowledge that all new hires need to build a solid foundation for success before progressing to role-specific onboarding paths.
Design Approach
Collaborating with HR and leadership, I identified needs and goals to create a roadmap for a Quick Start program aimed at engaging new hires from the time of offer acceptance through their first week of onboarding. The main objective was to prepare new hires for success early in their careers with the organization.
Results and Takeaways
Due to resource constraints, the full program was never implemented; however, the HR team considered incorporating some elements into an existing program.
